Height following system keeps consistent distance between nozzle and sheet. If it fails, you will get bad cuts, nozzle collision and machine damage.
Common Symptoms
- Nozzle hits the metal plate
- Unstable cutting height during processing
- Height reading jumps randomly
- Alarm triggered when starting cutting
Possible Causes
- Dust, spatter or residue on the capacitive sensor
- Damaged ceramic ring
- Loose wiring or poor connector contact
- Wrong parameter setting of follow-up sensitivity
- Grounding problem of the machine
Solutions
- Clean the sensor surface and remove metal spatter regularly.
- Check ceramic ring for cracks and replace it if broken.
- Re-plug cables and inspect connectors for oxidation.
- Reset height following parameters according to material and thickness.
- Check machine grounding to eliminate signal interference.
Reminder
Stop the machine immediately once collision risk appears. Do not run continuous cutting when height following is abnormal.
