Burrs are the unwanted metal residues attached to the edge of laser cut workpieces. It increases secondary polishing workload and affects product quality.
Common Symptoms
- Hard metal slag sticks to the bottom of cutting edge
- Rough, uneven cutting surface
- Burrs appear intermittently during cutting
Possible Causes
- Incorrect gas pressure or gas purity
- Cutting speed too fast or too slow
- Focus position offset
- Nozzle wear or improper nozzle size
- Laser power mismatch with plate thickness

Solutions
- Adjust gas pressure: Increase pressure appropriately for thick plates; check nitrogen/oxygen purity.
- Tune cutting speed: Test and find the matching speed for your material and thickness.
- Calibrate laser focus to the correct position.
- Replace worn nozzles, select the right nozzle aperture.
- Modulate laser power to match the workpiece thickness.
Reminder
After parameter adjustment, do a test cut before batch production.
